Lug Gift Guide, Part One

So, you've got about a week to get the rest/all of your holiday shopping done. Piece o' cake. Our handy gift guide will help you find something for everyone on your list, starting with the Fitness Fanatics and Savvy Travelers on your list.

The Fitness Fanatic
This one is a no-brainer. Go with the Cartwheel. With its ventilated compartment for shoes or soiled clothes, and all its organizational features, like the handy ring holder, this bag is the ideal gym companion. Done and done.

The Savvy Traveler
Now, this one is a bit tougher because there are just so many options. I mean, if this traveler needs a bigger bag, you could go with the Porter Roller Bag or the Shuttle Bus Wheelie. But if a smart carry-on is what you're looking for, it's hard to beat the new Sprout Carry-All or the old favorite, the Puddle Jumper. And then for accessories, there's always the toiletry tamers—Flip-Top and Two-Step—and the creature comforts, like the Nap Sac or adorable Undercover Bears. With so many great options, it's hard to go wrong.

Lug Bag Brawl

Can't we all just get along? Short answer: no.

Let me explain.

Moose (the black and white cat) had just found himself a nice Lug promotional tote to cozy up in. "Comfy and cute," he said to himself.

Then his big sister, Leon the Professional, was all "Hey! Whatcha doing in there, Moose? That looks purrrrrty nice." (Pun intended. That Leon is a clever little cat.)

Did I say little cat? I meant big—as in bossy big sister cat who always gets her way. She was all, "Hi-ya! Kazow! Karate chop! Scat, little bro! This bag is mine!"

"Ah. Little bro was right," thought Leon. "It is comfy and cute."

And that is the story of the Lug bag brawl.

Look! It's Lug's Annual Holiday Party

(Click this first, then read on.)

If you clicked, as you should have, you will be reading this and no doubt be in a cheery holiday mood, which just so happens to be the perfect mood for hearing about our favorite annual celebration—yes, the Lug Office Holiday Party! But at Lug, we go big. We don't just have one little party. We have one whole day of festivities and fun! Here's a little recap:

First, we kicked off the day with a fun color personality game (typical Lug, right?), and all our Luggers filled out a questionnaire to see what color personality they are. As Ami says, "It was a great exercise and really got us all laughing!"

Next, we had a town hall meeting where we announced our achievements (*patting ourselves on the back*) and challenges for the year, and looked ahead to our 2013 goals.

Then, we went shopping! Yup. We took all our lovely Luggers to Costco for a one-hour shopping spree.

After all that shopping, we needed nourishment, so it was back to the office for a big buffet lunch. Everyone chowed down while we watched a year-in-review slideshow. (Thank goodness Ami takes so many pictures!)

Afterward, we let our competitive sides shine with three hours of games. Best part was, during the games everyone earned raffle tickets for prizes at the end of the day. We've got one competitive bunch, I must say. Especially when it comes to spoons!

Games were followed by our awards ceremony. We had three people who reached their 5th year anniversary with Lug, so they were awarded with a 7-night all-inclusive beach destination (wholly guacamole!).

Ah, another successful holiday party in the bag (ba-dum-dum).

Lug Spotting! (It's Carrie Underwood! Eeee!)

Carrie Underwood has been spotted sporting her Lug Airbus in Ocean! We love, love, love her, and it looks like she loves Lug right back. Check out how she's attached her doggie poop bag holder to the side buckle. Now, that's putting your Lug bag to good use, making it work for you! LOVE!

Oh, and HAPPY FRIDAY! Where are you taking your Lug this weekend?

Bryan Rocks a MO for All the Bros

It's MOVEMBER! Never heard of Movember? It's kinda like November, except with lots and lots of moustaches! And if I know anything about moustaches, it's that they mean men's health. Okay, I made that up. But with any luck, the Movember movement will have people talking about men's health issues all month, and, frankly, anytime they see an awesome 'stache.

We're proud to announce that one of Lug's very own Bryan Cheung has joined in the Movember moustache movement to raise money and awareness for prostate cancer research and men's health.

So, that's why he's got that fat caterpillar crawling across his upper lip.

Help him reach his personal fundraising goal of $1500. If you do, he has vowed to wear his stache-tastic look all year! (YIKES! Maybe I'll help him raise exactly $1499.)

Go here to see his page and support prostate cancer research!

Giving Thanks a la Lug

Happy Thanksgiving, Luggers! It's that wonderful time of year when we all get together and eat our weight in turkey, dressing/stuffing, pie, cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, (insert your favorite dish here) ... but it's also that one day where we can take a minute to pause and give thanks for all the wonderful things in our lives—like Lug. So, here goes:

1. I am thankful for my Cartwheel, which I have diligently packed with my gym shoes and clothes. After all, packing the bag is the first step, without which, exercise would not follow. So, that's almost as good as actually working out, right?

2. I am thankful for my Cargo Packing Squares, which have kept me unbelievably organized as I travel to see my loved ones. (I'm at my second of three stops this holiday.)

3. I am thankful for my Flip-Top Toiletry Case, which houses all the goods that keep me looking cute even after a seven-hour car ride.

I've got a whole lotta Lug to be thankful for this year. What about you?

A Lug Love Story: Congrats Kevin and Fiona!

As you know, we're all about spreading the Lug love. But it's usually love for our products. This time we're thrilled to announce a love story of a different kind—a love story that started right here at Lug! You see, Kevin and Fiona met at Lug about five years ago. It was fate. And they just got engaged at Lambeau Field last Sunday! (Squeeeee!) Here's their proposal story, straight from Fiona:
"It was in the hotel room. We went to the [Lambeau] stadium tour and when we got back, the hotel room had all the decoration, two bottles of wine, and a sign that said "Congratulations!" I was so surprised and confused, I didn't know what was going on. That's when he gave the whole speech and went down on one knee. All I could say was OMG, OMG! hehe. But I said yes eventually. I was even surprised to find out that both our parents knew all about it. And here I was thinking my parents couldn't keep a secret. Who knew I would find my life parter at Lug?!"
So cute! A true Lug love story! Congrats to the happy couple!

Jason to Climb Kilimanjaro, Raise Big Bucks for Right to Play

Remember when we told you about Jason "Climbing for a Cause"? Well, it's almost time for him to strap on those hiking boots! The big climb is November 6. That's 12 short days away. But before Jason takes his first step up the highest mountain in Africa (That's 19,341 feet or 5,895 meters above sea level!), he's on a mad donation dash, asking supporters to do what they can for this great cause. You see, Right to Play is a global organization working to empower children facing adversity through play. As they say on their website, "Through sports and games, we help children build essential life skills and better futures, while driving social change in their communities with lasting impact." And listen to this staggering fact: "Each year, [Right to Play reaches] close to 835,000 children in regular weekly activities in more than 20 countries around the world."Amazing! It's easy to see why Jason got involved with this organization, and if you're so moved to support him and this great cause, please go here to donate.

Again, go here to donate.

Q&A with Country Crooner Lindsay Broughton

We love us some Lindsay Broughton! The Canadian country singer starred on our Lug stage at the Boots and Hearts Festival this August, and she was kind enough to answer a few questions for us. Here's what she had to say:

Lug: So what's on your current playlist, Lindsay?
LB: My current playlist is all over the place! I've had Dean Brody's "Dirt" album, The Black Crowes and Little Big Town on Repeat for the last few months. There's a couple of my guilty pleasures on there too though- a little spice girls never hurt anyone haha :)
Lug: Who are you excited to see at Boots and Hearts?
LB:To be honest I'm looking forward to seeing everyone on the list from fellow local artists all the way to Carrie Underwood. I love music and I feel like every musician and artist always brings something different to the table in their shows which I admire and find so interesting. Boots and Hearts is going to be swarming with talent so I'm really just looking forward to seeing as many shows as possible. I will say though- I'm hoping Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow get up and do "picture" together-I've love that song!
Lug: What's the craziest story you have while on tour?
LB:Haha, I actually had a recent crazy thing happen to me on my flight home from my most recent radio tour!
I was sitting beside this man who found out I was a musician and just wouldn't be quiet! He was a Chatty Cathy on 10! I was trying to be polite and I tried to watch my movie and I actually tried pretending I was sleeping at one point (haha).. but he wouldn't stop talking, going on and on about everything under the sun (And I mean EVERYTHING) to the point where he was being inappropriate and uncomfortable.
This guy could not take a hint, was trying to hold my hand and was asking for my number (Even after I was desperately ignoring him!)
I couldn't take it anymore and finally had him moved away from me! The minute we landed the police came on the plane and whisked him away! It was pretty scary and nerve wracking at the time and probably one of the worst situations to be in when you're 3500 feet in the air right after a two week tour and all you want to do is go home to your bed!
Lug: What's your favourite Lug product?
LB: I love the Shuttle Bus Weekender Bag! I am a woman of many products and I do not travel light haha
Lug: What is your favourite Lug colour?
LB:NO PREFERENCE. . but love anything rose pink or black :)
Lindsay loves Lug and we love her!

That's right. Lug's own co-founder and president, accompanied by Athlete Ambassador Adam van Koeverden and other Right To Play supporters, will summit Mount Kilimanjaro with the goal of raising $100,000 for the organization. They'll climb on November 6, 2012, it will take a total of six days, and "will test each individual both physically and mentally." How cool is that? Go, Jason, go!

Here's more information about Right To Play, the world's leading international humanitarian organization using sport as a tool for development.

We'll update you as Jason's training progresses and the climb approaches.

Lug Takes a Night Out to the Ballpark

We're hard workers at Lug, and sometimes we need to play hard too. So, last week we had Lug appreciation night and went to see the Toronto Blue Jays play the Texas Rangers in "our very own swanky box" (as Ami called it).

More from Ami: "A night out like this is our little token of appreciation to say THANK YOU for all that you do. Our company has a lot to be proud of and it's your dedication and heart that you put into the company that makes us stronger and stronger each year!"

So, THANK YOU Lug team! ... And go Jays! And Rangers! ... When you're based in Toronto and Texas, this is sort of a hard game to watch, eh?

Enjoy the pics. And before you ask, yes, that's Jose Bautista! And, yes, that's a signed card for the Lug team!

Golfing for Good

Yup. We're golfing for good tomorrow at the Joe Carter Classic Golf Tournament, and we can't wait! Not only do we get to hang out with Joe Carter himself and other celebrity golfers, but it's all for a good cause. The event raises funds for the Children's Aid Foundation, which funds programs that improve the lives of abused, neglected, and at-risk children and youth. We are trilled to be a part of this charity event for the third year in a row, and I guess all that's left to say is ... FORE!

Boots and Hearts Tomorrow!

YEE HAW!!!

Yup. That's all we've got to say about that.

Friday, August 3, 2012

Happy Friday, Y'all!

Sure, the Boots and Hearts Country Music Festival is a week away, but we've already started packing. Who can really blame us when packing means pulling out our favorite Lug bags and getting organized and excited for our trip.

That begs the question: Are you packing for anything this weekend? Tell us where you're going and what Lug bag you're packing. We love to hear from our Lug Nuts!

Happy Friday, y'all!

Lug Gets Busy in August! See What We're Up To

It may be the last month of summer, but the Lug calendar is just gearing up! We have seven trade shows this month! SEVEN! But we still find time for a little fun. Okay, a lot of fun.

First is the Boots and Hearts Country Music Festival (Aug. 10-12). We're sponsoring our own Lug stage, and we are so excited about hosting Lindsay Broughton, The Roughtones, and MacKenzie Porter!

Then we've got the Joe Carter Classic Golf Tournament (Aug. 15). This will be our third year participating, and each year the event gets better and better. And you know what? We love that it's golf for a good cause, benefitting the Children's Aid Foundation.

With our super-busy schedule this month, we thought our Toronto office was due for a little extracurricular fun, so on August 17, the whole office, plus families, is heading to the Rogers Center downtown for a Toronto Blue Jays game. I'm excited just writing about it. Summer baseball, maybe some peanuts and Cracker Jack. Ah, I love it!

Tell us what you're doing this August!

Cable Car Gets a Revamp

You Cable Car lovers must be thinking, "How? How in the world could Lug make this bag any better?" Well, we'll tell you. Of course, its always had pockets and pouches aplenty, including a soft-lined pocket for gadgets and a mesh zip pouch, but we've widened its zip pockets for easier access, added a soft lining so you can safely store your iPad or e-reader, and we threw in an additional zip pocket on the front. Now you must be thinking, "Wow. They did make this bag better." Also, "I can't wait to get one!"
